DESIGN STANDARDS

The Clarity theme rapidly being developed, the design team started work on an internal design standards site with simplified graphics and specifications. This internal site would help product teams to easily transition to the Clarity branding.

Grid, Content, Layout and Style

Grid, Content, Layout and Style

With Clarity design patterns being developed in rapid development by all visual designers, there was a large amount of content to add to the the clarity standards guide.

I was lead visual designer on the internal content including establishing the grid, layout and illustrating all of the abstract/simplified images.

Working closely with our UX Researcher/Writer we endeavoured to display these guidelines simply and elegantly using minimal text and a simplified image style to help convey the message with images, thus removing the need for lengthy text descriptions.

Final Design

As a 'one stop shop' location for all designers and developers to easily access, in addition to visual and written content, HTML/CSS was also easily accessible for direct code implementation.

This helped the UX design team to maintain and manage how the Clarity standards would correctly be implemented into each product.

While I worked on the abstract images and written content, my fellow peers worked on the HTML/CSS content.

Process

Process

With So many images required in rapid succession, I needed to focus on creating a simple, clean and expandable image style for use in the guidelines.

I always start my process with pencil and paper creating rough sketches. I use these ideas to begin building my digital files. From there my iterations and pixel perfecting are simply an evolution within the same master file. I can quickly iterate high resolution mockups and share these files with my team.
