I joined Charles Schwab in July of 2022 as a full time contractor. During my time on the Everest design system team, I helped add dozens of new components to our three UI Kit component libraries, Web, iOS and Android. Our typical process to taking on a new component design would be from a request from another team for a specific new component or feature. We assess the request and once approved, it is added to our backlog and eventually assigned to a designer. Our roles as designers are to research the component by comparing other design systems and UX best practices, create design mock ups and collaborate with the development team to ensure the component can be coded as designed, create the final Figma component and add it to our library (either web, iOS or android), and finally write and publish documentation to our internal “doc site”.
Below are examples of my completed Figma components and in many cases, their accompanying documentation pages.
